Together Again

We headed to Stanton last weekend and enjoyed some time with family. Kailey started out the weekend with a haircut. Amy curled her hair and Kailey loved every minute of the attention!

We went to Grandma J's for lunch - my mom made some awesome food! My aunt and uncle stopped by to meet my niece.

Kailey and Matthias were so lovey! Too cute.

Then a picture with Grandma J was attempted - this was the best one I got, and you should see the rest!

When we got back home, the girls helped Troy and Dad make a snowman! The snow wasn't sticky, so they got a big trash can and some water to make it work.

Excitement over a beetle!

Grandma and Grandpa Bruning joined us after supper.

All of us with Dad

This is out of order, but Grandpa took Kailey to see the baby calves on Sunday. This is something they do whether it's 0 or 100 degrees!

Craig and I got to hold little Marcella quite a bit - what a sweetheart!

THANKS EVERYONE for an awesome weekend!

K is for Kailey

My friend Joy has a neat tradition for her family members' birthdays. She tells a little about them using the letters of their name, and I thought I'd give it a try.

Keen - this girl picks up on everything! Even when she was very little she would see an airplane from the van and say "airplane" - we couldn't see it for 10 more seconds. Now she listens closely to what we say and repeats all or portions - look out!

Always ready to play - and you'd better be ready to play too! Daddy plays the best.

Independent - Kailey has always been this way, but in the last month her independence has made her quite self-sufficient. She is now picking out her own clothes, dressing herself, potty trained (finally - on her timeline!), and wanting to everything herself. She is going thru some separation anxiety right now, so at least we know she still needs us for something!

Lifts spirits - this girl is so outgoing, and gets excited to see her "friends" wherever we go. These friends are kids and adults of all ages, people she knows well and those she's never met. She is greeted with many, many smiles at daycare and church.

Energetic - Kailey can keep up with any little boy. Enough said.

Y - she has not started asking the "why" question constantly yet, but every three year old I know goes thru that stage. Right now I ask her "Why did you..." or "Why don't you want to..." but I know soon it will be her turn.

We love you, Kailey-girl!

Chuck E. Cheese's

Sunday we went to Chuck E. Cheese's with Grandma. Kailey had a blast of course!

Her new camera captured the action!

We might go back just for the free tunnels - she really had fun in there!

Grandma Becky and Great Grandma J. recorded a book for Kailey as a special gift for Valentine's Day.

Celebrating at Home

We also celebrated Kailey's birthday at home! Friday we had balloons for her, and Aunt Diane came over to give her this new outfit!

On Saturday we had some family and one neighbor family over.
Of course there were gifts....

And then there was cake!

(Is she growing up or what?)

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!!!

Celebrating in Iowa

Two weekends ago we headed to the Paulsens for a weekend with family. On Saturday, Craig's aunt, uncle, and cousins came over for lunch for a late Christmas celebration. We also celebrated Emma's first birthday!

Kailey went to visit Grandpa Riessen's house - Missy (the dog) kind of beat her up, but Kailey didn't mind I guess!

Sunday we relaxed after church. Amy and Kailey watched some TV.

Grandma picked up an ice cream cake to celebrate Kailey's birthday - yummy!

One of Kailey's presents was a princess castle! It folds up easily and goes into a little bag - amazing! Grandma joined her to check it out.

Grandpa Riessen wanted to try (ha!), so we brought the castle to him! I think he actually liked it.

It was a great time - thanks everyone!
